Posted on September 29th, 2011 by admin

FC Barcelona triumphed last night playing against BATE Borissovin Group H of the Champions League. Messi scored two goals making 194 to become the equal-second top scorer in Barcelona’s history with Kubala. While AC Milan also won their tie, the score puts Barcelona at the head of the Group H table.

0-1 Volodko (own goal) (min 18)
0-2 Pedro (min 22)
0-3 Messi (min 38)
0-4 Messi (min 56)
0-5 Villa (min 89)

A look ahead at Barcelona’s match against Bate Borisov tonight on the Hourston Chronicle.

With two hat tricks in his last three games, Lionel Messi looks primed to lead defending champion Barcelona to its first win of this Champions League campaign at BATE Borisov in Group H on Wednesday.

Messi has scored a Spanish league best eight goals this season, but his team will need to avoid repeating the defensive mistakes that led to a 2-2 draw against Milan in their European opener.

From then on it was all down to Messi, with his first in the 26th minute. And in the second half he scored goal number four at minute 77; and made his hat trick in the 91st minute. The result puts Barcelona in the number two spot on the league table behind betis, who still have a game in hand.

Ferran Adriá! Do they really think he’ll make that much of a difference? At least they should get some good food.

The Spanish club recruited famed chef Ferran Adriá on Thursday to revamp its youth academy menu. The European champions say the former El Bulli chef will redesign the club’s La Masia meals to “foster healthy eating and exercise” by providing the Catalan club’s future stars with the best possible diet.

Barcelona draws against Valencia

Posted on September 22nd, 2011 by admin

Barcelona drew against Valencia last night in what was their first big test of the season. The club is sitting at the top of the league still after dropping two points, but put up a good fight. However, Madrid’s fixture against Racing was less impressive, with uninspired football resulting in a 0-0 draw.

While it is a disappointing result for Barça it is hardly something to worry about. On the other hand, Real Madrid don’t seem to be playing all out to get the league title yet.

Barça demolishes Osasuna

Posted on September 19th, 2011 by admin

After a disappointing two matches against Real Sociedad then AC Milan in which Barcelona drew, they came back with a vengeance on Saturday night at the Nou Camp, scoring eight goals against Osasuna. In what seems like it was the last day of summer, with the weather turning cold over the weekend, Messi scored a hat trick, while Villa scored two. And Cesc and Xavi added to the tally, as did an own goal from Osasuna to complete the humiliation.

The weekend couldn’t have ended better for Barça supporters, with Real Madrid stumbling against Levante. The giants lost 1-0 away, leaving Valencia to head the league table.

AC Milan draws against Barça

Posted on September 14th, 2011 by admin

Barcelona drew 2-2 against AC Milan last night thanks to a goal in injury time from the Italians. The Catalan champions went one goal down inside the first minute and play looked rather scrappy. However, once they got into the match it looked like things would go their way and Pedro equalised in the 36th minute.

With Villa putting Barça into the lead in the second half, possession was around 70 percent and mainly in the Milan half. With Barcelona unable to score another, they were unlucky for Milan to score at the very last minute.

1-1, Pedro (min 36)
2-1, Villa (min 49)
2-2, Thiago Silva (min 93)

Barça draws against Real Sociedad

Posted on September 12th, 2011 by admin

After two goals from Xavi and Cesc put Barcelona into the lead just 11 minutes into the match against Real Sociedad on Saturday it looked like the match would go all Barça’s way. However, it wasn’t to be and with Real Sociedad staging a second half comeback, the two teams shared the points at the end of the match.

The result means Barça has slipped down the table, with Real Madrid in the top position. It’s early days though and plenty can happen between now and the end of the season; don’t read too much into one match.
