Barça opens up gap at top of table
Posted on January 31st, 2011 by adminFC Barcelona played their return match against Hercules on Saturday, the only team to have beaten them in La Liga this season.
Hercules weren’t going to roll over and let the league leaders notch up another huge win, and it wasn’t until towards the end of the first half that Pedro scored for Barça. It looked like it was going to a tough fight until the end, and Hercules got close to scoring themselves.
However, at the end of the match Leo Messi managed to scored two goals inside three minutes, after the hosts had gone down to 10 men. The match is the 15th successive league win for Barça, equalling the existing record.
As well as taking three points, Real Madrid lost their own match, meaning Barça is now 7 points clear at the top of the table.
0-1 Pedro (min 43)
0-2 Messi (min 87)
0-3 Messi (min 89)
